9,0/10 Exceptional - Based on 352 reviews
Bathed in the authentic gentleness of Kusatsu, this ryokan in Kusatsu invites you to a timeless experience combining serenity and well-being. Located just steps from the majestic Yubatake baths, it offers a refuge exclusively for adults, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Its four private baths, with the legendary benefits of the local onsen, provide unmatched moments of relaxation, enhanced by delicately scented treatments by Shiseido. Upon arrival, offered sweets celebrate the warm welcome of this Japanese eden.
Majestic in their simplicity, the rooms offer refined comfort through several styles. Comfortable twin beds blend with traditional Japanese touches, and some rooms offer futons for a more complete immersion. Each space, bathed in natural light, offers an air-conditioned haven of peace, complemented by modern details like free Wi-Fi and television, ensuring a balanced stay between authenticity and modernity.
The culinary promise of this ryokan is embodied in a delicate breakfast, combining freshness and balance, centered on healthy ingredients. To prolong the awakening of the senses, the on-site restaurant, with a decidedly traditional charm, offers flavorful Japanese cuisine. Just a few minutes’ walk away, the streets of Kusatsu are teeming with cafes and restaurants where local flavors are revealed, extending the enchantment with each meal.
Japanese Authenticity Evaluation
6/10 Although the architecture mixes tradition and modernity, the atmosphere retains a Japanese charm. Meals are presented with care but lack Kaiseki refinement. The baths, though present, do not stand out for marked authenticity. The rooms offer a pleasant balance between tatami mats and modern amenities.
